Carol Ingram from Forward Counselling

My Background

I have spent over 10 years working in social care, supporting children, families, carers, and care leavers through some of life's most difficult times.

During this time, I have had the privilege of working alongside people from many different backgrounds, cultures, and life experiences.

It was through this work that I felt inspired to train as a therapeutic counsellor.

Today, I offer a safe, compassionate space where you can explore your own story at your own pace. Everyone's journey is unique, but here are some of the areas I have previously and often supported with:

  • Anxiety
  • Menopause
  • Stress
  • Depression
  • Abuse
  • Trauma
  • Grief and loss
  • Self-harm
  • Suicide ideation
  • Relationships and attachments
  • Identity and self-exploration
  • Life transitions
  • Family dynamics
  • Confidence and self-worth
  • Change and uncertainty
  • Intrusive thoughts or overwhelming feelings
  • Making sense of your story

Counselling Approach

As a person‑centred counsellor, I believe that you are the expert in your own life. My role is not to tell you what to do, but to offer a safe, supportive space where you can explore your thoughts and feelings at your own pace.

This means I will listen without judgment, meet you with honesty, and value you for who you are. Together, we can work to understand your experiences, uncover patterns, and find ways forward that feel right for you.

I know that taking the step to begin counselling can feel daunting. That’s why I aim to create a space that feels welcoming and down‑to‑earth, where you can bring whatever is on your mind, whether it’s anxiety, stress, grief, trauma, or simply a desire to understand yourself better.

Counselling with me is about connection. It’s about having someone alongside you who will listen deeply, respect your story, and support you in finding your own strength and resilience.

Sessions and Fees

Counselling sessions normally last for 1 hour and are offered on a weekly or fortnightly basis, depending on what feels most supportive for you.

The standard fee is £40 per session.

Counselling can be short‑term or longer‑term depending on what feels right for you. We will review this together as we go, making sure the support continues to meet your needs.

If you are interested in counselling and would like to see how it feels to talk with me, I offer a free 15‑minute telephone call. This gives us a chance to connect, discuss what you are looking for, and answer any questions you may have.

There is no obligation to continue afterwards, this is  simply an opportunity to explore whether counselling feels right for you. My hope is that this first conversation helps you feel at ease and reassured that support is available whenever you are ready.
